Levanté 1 ~ At Home: An Online Video Retreat Program
Fr. Michael Fish, OSB, Cam (virtually)
Friday, September 23 to Thursday, September 29, 2022
Experience how simple everyday events hold opportunities for growth... A new retreat designed to help us find the Divine in everyday life Levanté 1, the first of Michael Fish's fascinating new retreat series, is designed to help us recognize the opportunities for personal growth that are often hidden within everyday experiences. With each video session, he provides a springboard inviting fresh perspectives on life's challenges and rewards. Born of Michael's arduous and eventful journey on the Levante Camino route across Spain, Levanté 1 focuses on how simple everyday events hold valuable lessons for living life in the "now." Each session, each day, offers a separate, distinct experience that can reveal simple, easily overlooked opportunities for us to live more fully in the present and in the presence of the Divine. Amazing and unpredictable, the Levanté journey provides a wealth of wonderful opportunities to see what God can teach us about each and every life experience. Michael uses his remarkable gift of storytelling and metaphor to show us how these experiences can hold the key to opening our hearts to a wider view of our relationship with ourselves, our families and the world around us.
Watch the Levanté 1 retreat videos at Home ~
You can watch the entire Levanté 1 suite of retreat videos remotely at home, or anywhere worldwide with an internet connection. On your self-guided retreat you'll view the same retreat videos that on-site participants enjoy. View each video as many times as you wish. Your video access will begin on September 23, 2022 and concluding on September 29, 2022. You'll also be able to download all of the valuable Study Guide PDFs, and you'll receive a "Retreat Kit" in the mail. The Retreat Kit contains a personal blank journal and Pilgrim's Credential and "Day" stickers (see images below). Whether you're walking the camino/journey of your life or whether you have walked the pilgrim route of the Camino de Santiago in Spain, this retreat can offer you the opportunity to: Reflect on the spirituality of journey and its wisdom for daily living; Give this retreat as a gift to someone who has not/cannot physically walk the Camino, but who desires the experience of a sacred journey; Refresh your own experience of walking the Camino and its lessons for your life.
Cost: $250

15. Los Angeles Retreat Center Community: Event Calendar Available

In a continuing effort to pool resources for those in need of spiritual nourishment and solace, the Los Angeles Retreat Center Community-comprised of five retreat centers in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles-has released an online event calendar. The calendar provides a simple guide to prayer meetings, retreats, and other spiritual activities held at each of the five centers. It is available at:

https://laretreatcenters.com/<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Flaretreatcenters.com%2F&data=05%7C01%7Ceeobrien%40la-archdiocese.org%7C67690fe899b6470dbb4408da34f240f0%7Ca90c3e256ce644bca7ca47ee2af06f3f%7C0%7C0%7C637880513044430969%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=qeT65avuy%2FgqurP1KoP6lapxEavZHrw4XxmmDKVAmDE%3D&reserved=0>

Each center offers a wide variety of programs, catering to differing spiritual needs according to an individual's faith or disposition. This should make it considerably easier for individuals or groups to find events and activities that best meet their needs.

The calendar provides a listing of both online and onsite events. Details of events are available on the calendar and include links to sign up online or via telephone.

The Los Angeles Retreat Center Community offers spiritual renewal and discovery for those looking for a deeper relationship with God.

Soul Gardening: Sacrament of the Present Moment
Rev. Terry Hershey
6:00 pm Friday, August 12 to 1:30 pm Sunday, August 14, 2022
People who love the world, who pay attention, are gardeners, whether or not they have ever picked up a trowel ~ because gardening is not just about digging. Gardening is about cherishing ~ and to cherish, one must be present ... Here! Now! We see that the ordinary is the hiding place for the holy and ... open our heart to the rhythms of "the garden"; embrace the demanding marriage of loving and losing; cultivate appreciation for ordinary gifts of grace, the value of solitude, and the healing power of nature; nurture our soul, and renew our sense of life's fullness. Gardens are sacred places that can offer healing for mind, body, and soul. Experience our gardens as restorative, inspiring, & life-giving. Participate in outdoor & indoor workshops, exploring "sanctuary" gardens, with personal time for walks, prayer, rocking chairs, and reflection. Terry Hershey is an author, humorist, inspirational speaker, ordained minister, and smitten by French wine. He divides his time between designing sanctuary gardens & sharing his practice of "pausing" & "sanctuary," to help us do less and live more. Terry's book, Sanctuary: Creating places for grace in your life, offers permission to slow down and to be gentle with ourselves. Most days, you can find Terry out in his garden-on Vashon Island in the Puget Sound - because he believes that there is something fundamentally spiritual about dirt under your fingernails. Cost: per person/shared $250; single $350; commuter $160

Sacred Expressions: Prayer of the Heart with Art
Rev. Paula Vukmanic
Saturday, September 10, 2022 9:00am to 12:30pm
You have a heart, an essence that is you. Believing in and allowing your personal heart encounters with God to flow through you can lead you into a deeper and peace and loving awareness of the amazing self that you are. How do you get in touch with what is being revealed within you? "Prayer of the heart with art" will foster an inner listening, using introverted and extroverted forms of prayer. Our session will explore the revelations of mandala making, poetry, the simplicity of the haiku and word collages to express our feeling and thoughts. We will experience silence, seeing, hearing, creating, walking and breathing in the Presence of God's inspiring Spirit. The Rev. Paula recently retired as Rector of St Francis Episcopal Church in Palos Verdes Estates. She is a professional artist and has exhibited in galleries for many years. Paula has given workshops, retreats and taught plein aire painting. Paula is a teacher, provided pastoral care, and led a parish as an Episcopal priest.
Cost: $40 per person (all materials included)

Spirituality Series 2022: Application of Steps 8 & 9 = Final Phase of the Process of Forgiveness
Herb Kaighan, Spiritual Guide
Saturday, September 24, 2022 10 AM to 1 PM Via Zoom US Pacific Time
FREEDOM is the key promise of the completion of Steps 8 & 9. Step 8 ~ Identify "harms": 1. How did you diminish them? Not what you did... but what was the impact on them! What you did that diminished the quality of their lives? Which of these areas were affected? Physical; Emotional; Mental; Financial; Spiritual. 2. What specifically can I do to balance the Justice scale? My change of behavior? My repair of damage? Step 9 ~ Willingness to address the damage to complete the Forgiveness Process: How do I prepare properly? How do I make amends to people I can't find? How do I make effective amends to people I should not contact? or who don't want contact with me? How do I make amends to dead people? What is the "Forgiveness Process"? This will be a practical WORK-shop. Bring your questions, prepare to confront your unwillingness and to respond to your willingness. Together we'll share our experience and dialogue about being delivered to FREEDOM by bringing HEALING to others. Freedom is the result of rehabilitation of our relationship with Life, Ourselves & Others. Are you really willing to go to "...any length" for freedom from addiction & unmanageability? Have you completed Step 9? If not, are you willing to complete all your amends? REALLY?

Weekend Healing Retreat: The Human Adventure
Fr. Pat Crowley, SSCC
6pm Friday, October 14 to 1:30pm Sunday, October 16, 2022
"To live with soul is to live with hope in the midst of discouragement and setbacks. Trust in the midst of struggle and the unknown future. Patience in the midst of trials and pain. Gratitude in the midst of ordinary life. Generosity in the midst of committed relationships." ~ from 'The Enduring Heart' by Wilkie Au. To recapture the vision of our human adventure is the aim of this
retreat. St. Paul in his epistle to the Philippians captures the theme very succinctly: "Brothers and Sisters, I do not think of myself as having reached the finish line. I give no thought to what lies behind but push on to what is ahead." ~ Philippians 3.13. The Retreat is an opportunity to experience 'sharings' on the Human Adventure, times for quiet reflection and prayer, personal ministry, and daily celebration of the eucharist. The sacrament of reconciliation will also be available for those wishing to avail themselves of the sacrament. There will be a general healing service on Saturday evening in the Chapel for all of those wishing to attend. Fr. Pat is a member of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts in the Western Region of the United States Province. He has been actively involved in Healing Ministry for over forty years. He resides at the Community House in California.
Cost: per person/shared $250; single $350; commuter $160
