5. "Alive" Movie Showing in Theaters Nationwide Tuesday, June 21

Producers of the Eucharistic documentary, "ALIVE," invite all the Archdiocesan community to the new showing on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in movie theaters nationwide. The Eucharistic documentary was a fan favorite and captured a #1 per screen average at its initial opening on April 25, 2022. The upcoming and highly anticipated June encore showing of ALIVE will coincide with the Feast of Corpus Christi and the launch of the three-year Eucharistic Revival Movement in the United States.

"Catholics everywhere responded to the message of this film and now we have another opportunity to bring ALIVE to the United States," said Father Jose Pedro Manglano, founder of the Hakuna<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbehakuna.com%2F&data=05%7C01%7CEeobrien%40la-archdiocese.org%7C86db4be6e7344a191ca308da48b34083%7Ca90c3e256ce644bca7ca47ee2af06f3f%7C0%7C0%7C637902231967184491%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=aLwzXE0lnZOL175sW8D0sd8y54J1Ue4TmpXNcsJjT1w%3D&reserved=0> movement. "ALIVE always creates a movement and the movement we hope to create is one around renewed Eucharistic devotion. It's no coincidence with God that the encore showing of ALIVE will take place exactly as the United States Catholic bishops begin their initiative for Eucharistic revival."

As part of the documentary film experience, filmmakers have included bonus content, "A Conversation About the Power of the Eucharist." After the documentary presentation of ALIVE, filmmakers will take audience-goers a little deeper for a conversation about the power of the Eucharist, the true Presence of Jesus Christ including testimony about the transforming power of God made present in the Eucharist at Masses and on altars around the world. The bonus content features Bishop Andrew Cozzens, chairman for evangelization and catechesis at the U.S.C.C.B; Sr. Nancy Usselmann, FSP, Director of the Pauline Center for Media Studies; Rev. Julian Harris, pastor at St. Thomas More in Boynton Beach, FL; and Rev. Alex Vargas, parochial vicar at St. Thomas More in Boynton Beach.

Spirituality Series 2022: LIVE... Wide AWAKE ~ Die... Sleep Walking: Secrets for OPTIMAL LIVING with Allen Berger, PhD & Herb Kaighan, Spiritual Guide
Saturday, June 18, 2022 10:00am to 1:00pm Via Zoom US Pacific Time
PURPOSE: The Twelve Step process is a solution not only to addiction but for resolving the human malady of "unmanageability". Carl Jung suggested "The Spirit is the antidote to spirits." Bill Wilson states in the Big Book "...our way of living has its advantages for All." Attendees ~ will experience the process for radical personal change in the way they think, feel and behave; will identify sources of serial suffering and chronic unhappiness; will learn about resources and tools for healing and a life that flourishes; will practice the skills and actions which establish and foster a sense of well-being and joy. Who should attend? ALL who are interested in improving the QUALITY of their life; especially those in any 12 Step Fellowship.
Honestly ask yourself: Are you experiencing serial suffering? Are you 'restless, irritable and discontent'? Unhappy? Do you find yourself repeating certain self-defeating patterns?
The workshop will discuss achieving & sustaining emotional balance and spiritual vitality. The path of improving consciousness and enlarging compassion produces optimal living. "We keep our heads in the clouds and our feet firmly planted on the earth" (BB page 130). Happiness is not a product: it is a by-product! Human beings have an intrinsic need to have meaning through connecting to a value larger than themselves. Human beings create a life of purpose through the actions of helping others. This is now not just common sense, historical experience, good philosophy, or eloquent poetry. It is confirmed by the hard evidence of the science of HAPPINESS. When we have a meaningful connection beyond ourselves and live a life of contribution - we find personal happiness and a life of purpose. We will discuss our experience of sustaining emotional balance, and spiritual maturity, especially through "Our Way of Life" - Steps 10,11 & 12. Dr. Allen Berger is a Clinical Psychologist and is 50 years clean & sober. Dr. Berger will discuss mental health concepts like emotional dependency, self-esteem, interdependence & manifesting our true self. abphd.com. Spirituality Series 2022: Application of Steps 8 & 9 = Final Phase of the Process of Forgiveness
Herb Kaighan, Spiritual Guide
Saturday, July 16, 2022 10 AM to 1 PM Via Zoom US Pacific Time
FREEDOM is the key promise of the completion of Steps 8 & 9.
Step 8 ~ Identify "harms": 1. How did you diminish them? Not what you did... but what was the impact on them! What you did that diminished the quality of their lives? Which of these areas were affected? Physical; Emotional; Mental; Financial; Spiritual 2. What specifically can I do to balance the Justice scale? My change of behavior? My repair of damage?
Step 9 ~ Willingness to address the damage to complete the Forgiveness Process: How do I prepare properly? How do I make amends to people I can't find? How do I make effective amends to people I should not contact? or who don't want contact with me? How do I make amends to dead people? What is the "Forgiveness Process"?
This will be a practical WORK-shop. Bring your questions, prepare to confront your unwillingness and to respond to your willingness. Together we'll share our experience and dialogue about being delivered to FREEDOM by bringing HEALING to others. Freedom is the result of rehabilitation of our relationship with Life, Ourselves & Others. Are you really willing to go to "...any length" for freedom from addiction & unmanageability? Have you completed Step 9? If not, are you willing to complete all your amends? REALLY?
Herb K's journey ~ 7 years in Claretian seminary, a graduate education in psychology, 40 years in human resources consulting, certification as a Spiritual Director, active participation in 12 Step Fellowship since 1984 and the publication of 3 books on spiritual awakening. http://www.herbk.com. Soul Gardening: Sacrament of the Present Moment
Rev. Terry Hershey
6:00 pm Friday, August 12 to 1:30 pm Sunday, August 14, 2022
People who love the world, who pay attention, are gardeners, whether or not they have ever picked up a trowel ~ because gardening is not just about digging. Gardening is about cherishing ~ and to cherish, one must be present ... Here! Now! We see that the ordinary is the hiding place for the holy and ... open our heart to the rhythms of "the garden"; embrace the demanding marriage of loving and losing; cultivate appreciation for ordinary gifts of grace, the value of solitude, and the healing power of nature; nurture our soul, and renew our sense of life's fullness. Gardens are sacred places that can offer healing for mind, body, and soul. Experience our gardens as restorative, inspiring, & life-giving. Participate in outdoor & indoor workshops, exploring "sanctuary" gardens, with personal time for walks, prayer, rocking chairs, and reflection. Terry Hershey is an author, humorist, inspirational speaker, ordained minister, and smitten by French wine. He divides his time between designing sanctuary gardens & sharing his practice of "pausing" & "sanctuary," to help us do less and live more. Terry's book, Sanctuary: Creating places for grace in your life, offers permission to slow down and to be gentle with ourselves. Most days, you can find Terry out in his garden-on Vashon Island in the Puget Sound - because he believes that there is something fundamentally spiritual about dirt under your fingernails. Cost: per person/shared $250; single $350; commuter $160

He has been active in contemplative practice for over 30 years. Herb Kaighan is a retired professional who has been on a spiritual path since his youth.
